Toyota Yaris Hybrid challeges the Honda Jazz Hybrid

After the concept presented in the fall at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show the Japanese finally reveal the final version of the Toyota Yaris Hybrid which will take on its main competitor in Europe the Honda Jazz Hybrid. For the American market Toyota solved the small hybrid hatchback demand with the Prius C which Toyota preferred to sell in America because of the fame of the Prius name while in Europe the Prius is almost anonymous so they sell the Toyota Yaris Hybrid to fill the void.The main rival for this model is the already famous Honda Jazz Hybrid.

Compared to the Toyota Yaris HSD the concept displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011 the production version doesn't come with anything special although the frontal spoiler is different compared to the rest of the range.The logo now comes with some blue accents to emphasize the eco character of the Toyota Yaris Hybrid.  
In rest the exterior and interior design are almost identical to any normal Yaris with differences very hard to detect.The small details that show this car is a hybrid are very discreet.

The propulsion is supplied by a Hybrid Synergy Drive system which combines a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder gas engine with an electric engine ( a completely different engine compared to the one in the Auris Hybrid). Compared to its bigger brother the Auris Hybrid the electric motor in the Yaris is much smaller and the battery pack is 20% lighter compared to the one in the Auris.The total combined power is 100 HP (2 HP more than the Jazz Hybrid) but sadly any details on the fuel economy are nonexistent.For more technical details we will have to wait the Geneva 2012 Motor Show where the car will have the European premiere.
