2013 Mazda CX-5 Preview

The smaller brother of the Mazda CX-7 made its debut not long ago at the Los Angeles Motor Show and now we’ve got a preview of the 2013 Mazda CX-5.The Mazda dealers already have lots of orders for this model.The clients can choose from both FWD and AWD versions.

The transmission is also available in both manual are automatic forms to suit the needs of every buyer.The most expensive version named Mazda CX-5 CDI75 Revolution offered with AWD, automatic transmission and a 175 HP diesel engine starts in Europe at the price of 34.590 Euros.

The entire range of engines offered alongside the new CX-5 includes two diesels of 2.2 liter and a 2.0 liter gas engine.The SkyActiv-G 2.0 liter 4 cylinder gas engine which is direct injected having a compression ratio of 14.0:1. This engine uses a system of variable control of the valves.This engine is 10% lighter than the previous and 15% more fuel efficient.It produces 165 HP at 6.000 rpm and 210 NM of torque at 4.000 rpm.

There’s also a 2.2 liter diesel offered in two version one making 150 HP and one 175 HP.Surprisingly both versions of this engine despite the different horse power ratings offered exactly the same number of torque.

The CX-5 is offered in a total of 4 trims named:Emotion,Challenge,Attraction and Revolution.In standard this model is equipped with the i-Stop system which automatically stops and restarts the engine to improve fuel economy in heavy traffic.

The standard level of equipment includes traction and stability control, engine start from a button, electronic assistance in hill ascend and descend, tire pressure monitoring sensors and a whole new set of active and passive safety equipment.

    >I'm pretty impressed with Mazda on this one. They took everything good about the CX-7 and managed to stick it in a smaller chassis. This will definitely give other compact SUV's a run for their money.
