Prius is no longer a singular model in Toyota’s range of models on sale.The Japanese brand created an entire range of vehicles based on the Hybrid Sinergy Drive technology.Some of these models are the Prius Plug-in-Hybrid and the hybrid family van named Prius V. Toyota decided now to extend its range of hybrid with one more model, a hybrid hatchback named Prius C.
The Toyota Prius C has a shape very similar to other classic hatchbacks and quits the style used by the Prius for the back design the C having a normal hatchback design.The Prius C is quite small being just 1.5 inches longer than a Yaris.The design is characterized by sharp aggressive lines similar to other new Toyota models that shape a new brand image for Toyota.The interior design remains almost exactly like the one on its sibling, the classic Prius.
Probably the most interesting thing about this car is the way its powered.Ain’t like the Prius could gain any popularity from any other of its characteristics.We find the C to be powered by a 1.5 Liter four cylinder that makes an impressive 74 HP(notice the sarcasm). The top torque figure is 111 NM at 4.800 rpm but with the help of the extra 61 HP of the electric motor it adds up to a total 169 NM.
Toyota claims that the Prius C will actually get 50 Mpg in the city which would be a record for its class.
The official introduction of this model on the American market will be next month at the Detroit Motor Show and the sales will start in the spring.
