Mercedes-Benz SL first pics where leaked yesterday on the internet and since it was leaked already and everyone saw how it looks Mercedes decided to launch the official pics on the web anyway.This car will be publicly unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show.
The first official pictures of the new Mercedes-Benz SL are all over the internet.This model enters a new aesthetic direction compared to the previous generation.The Detroit Motor Show will be the place where it will get officially introduced to the public.
Just like the new SLK this models gets the Magic Sky Control as an extra option.This is a system that allows for the glass roof to become transparent of opaque at the press of a button.Yesterday someone leaked the first pics of this model by scanning a German Mercedes brochure.
The new SL will get an AMG version by the end of 2012.Until then let’s see the details of the normal version from the new gen Mercedes-Benz SL.The first change that everyone notices is the change of the headlights design that now have a completely different shape.
The complete front design along with the bumper were restyled according to the new trends in design at Mercedes.The back end reminds us of the CLS but the brake lights might not appeal to some people because of the different design from the previous gen.
For the moment there are only two trims:SL 350 and the SL 500.The base version, the 350 gets a V6 engine that makes 306 HP and gets the car from 0 to 60 in about 6 seconds.The top version is the SL 500 which is equipped with a twin turbo V8 of 4.6 Liters that makes a total of 410 HP and 600 NM of torque.This power gets the SL 500 from 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds.
The price are known only for the German market for now.The SL 350 starts at 93.534 Euros the equivalent of 122.043 US Dollars while the SL 500 starts at 117.096 Euros the equivalent of 152.786 US Dollars.
The interior takes over many features from the SLS among which the air vents of the climate, the shape of the wheel and the commands of the central console.The new SL’s interior design has many retro influences although its got many high tech modern equipment like the system that heats the neck of the passengers named Air Scarf.
This car is another reason to go to the Detroit Motor Show and see all the auto premieres.
