Luxgen5 official introduction

Luxgen5

Luxgen is an Asian company that struggles to enter the premium segment with its first full-size sedan.Risen from somewhere in Asia from a place dangerously close to China Luxgen’s cars are almost anonymus.Luxgen despite its anonymity has big objectives. They claim to be an alternative to classic luxury brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi.If the Luxgen name seems somewhat familiar its because of Luxgen 7 an electric MPV concept that took the world by surprise.

Luxgen5

Luxgen5 is the company’s newest creation and at the same time the first ever sedan manufactured by the company.First unveiled at the Shanghai 2011 Motor Show it was initially named Neora. They dropped the original name now for a bland 7. Probably its most close rivals will be the Peugeot 508 and Renault Latitude(sold in Asia as a Samsung).Luxgen claims that this is a car designed to be sold globally and that the chassis was designed by the American company named Altair.Regarding the engines Luxgen 5 will offer a 1.8 Liter 4 cylinder turbo that makes 150 HP or for the top version a 4 cylinder 2.0 Liter turbo that produces 170 HP.

Both of these are gas engines and there is no diesel option. All this not impressive power will be transmitted to the wheels by a five speed automatic transmission on the 150 HP version but the 170 HP version will get a less archaic 6 speed automatic. The acceleration is a healthy but equally not impressive 8.3 seconds from 0 to 60 and the top speed is 125 Mph.Safety is the strong suit of most luxury cars and Luxgen have made their homework: ABS, EBD, TCS and ESC.This is the electronic equipment that will make this car to behave safety in any given circumstance.

The driver’s attention will be kept on the road not on the dash with the help of a heads-up display that looks pretty cool. The interior of the Luxgen 5 offers high quality materials along a futuristic design. The central console gets a pretty large touch screen display that offers access to the Luxgen Thing+Touch interface developed by HTC.The question is: would you buy this car considering that the company that sells it has no history ?
