The American tuners from Hennessey Performance presented this week a digitally processed image of their new tuning package of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.They call this model HPE800.The name comes from the 7.0 Liter HEMI Twin Turbo V8 engine that makes 805 HP at 5.800 rpm.

Standard version of Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8

The standard version of the Grand Cherokee SRT8 has a 6.4 Liter naturally aspirated HEMI V8 and “only” 470 HP.Hennessey Performance intends to make only 24 cars with this special package and each one will cost about 235.000 Dollars.
This SUV really has a beast of an engine which makes it get from 0 to 60 Mph in 3 seconds flat and do a quarter mile in 10.9 seconds at over 120 Mph.To deliver this kind of performance the automatic transmission was upgraded with a new torque converter that can handle the astronomic torque.The braking system was also improved with bigger braking calipers and a new set of disks that have a diameter of 15.1 inch.In order to make this 2 and a half ton sport utility handle good on the track Hennessey specialists improved the suspension system and lowered the ground clearance.Even with of all these upgrades the Select-Track switch which allows you to select the driving mode is still present.

Grand Cherokee SRT8 is the fastest production car Jeep ever created and at the same time is 13% more fuel efficient than the previous generation.Thanks to the substantial improvements operated by the Hennessey Performance engineers, the Grand Cherokee SRT8 HPE 800 Twin Turbo will offer straight line performance that is slightly better to most European and Japanese supercars.
