Ford introduced today the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the C-Max.These models will be unveiled officially at the Detroit Motor Show in January, when all automarkers bring out the goodies.
According to the official data offered by Ford the Energi version of the C-Max hybrid will be better in terms of economy in electric mode than the equivalent version of the Toyota Prius plug-in.
This car is supposed to get an autonomy of 500 miles which is better than Chevy Volt’s autonomy. Both of these hybrid C-Max’s use a 2.0 Liter four cylinder engine along an electric motor powered by a Lithium-Ion battery. These two engine can function independently or in parallel depending the driving mode selected by the driver and the level of power of the battery.
The new C-Max Hybrid and C-Max Energi bring a whole series of technology improvements in Ford’s range of vehicles on sale.Among these are the sensors that open the trunk if you put your foot under it and the new generation of the SmartGauge system with EcoGuide and Brake Coach that shows the driver how efficient is he driving, what must he change in order to improve efficiency and how to use the braking energy recovery system more efficiently so that the battery will stay charged as much as possible.
According to the data from Ford the hybrid version of the C-Max charges the battery using 95% of the energy generated when braking, energy that is lost in non-hybrid cars.Stay tuned for more coverage on the upcoming car premieres at the Detroit Motor Show.
