BMW and General Motors allie themselves to create the best fuel cells

BMW&GM-electric cars

According to the German media BMW intends to resume an older alliance with GM in the eco engines segment but this time the objective is known to be the development of the best fuel cells in the industry. After BMW X6 ActiveHybrid and Cadillac Escalade Hybrid appeared on the market as a result of the joint development in hybrid technology of BMW and GM but now the problems raised by the high production costs bring these two giants back together. The potential of fuel cells might prove vital both for BMW and GM.Its vital for BMW considering that they will introduce a whole electric range in a few years prefaced by the i3 and i8 concepts. For GM this collaboration is also vital since they’ve already began selling cars like Chevrolet Volt and Opel Ampera. Both companies placed big bets on electric cars so making them work is absolutely vital for both.
General Motors hasn’t confirmed any details of this alliance yet but they say that both companies are discussing about joining forced to create a series of future technologies. It remains to be seen what will this joint development between GM and BMW will bring also considering that BMW already has an agreement with Toyota that forces them to supply Toyota with diesel engine in exchange for hybrid technology.
