BMW attacks the four door coupe market with the Gran Coupe version of the six series. With two extra doors and an extra 4.3 inches in length this is BMW’s response to the Mercedes-Benz CLS and the Audi A7.
BMW launched officially the 6 series Gran Coupe, a four door version of the normal 6 series. This makes this car the main rival for the Mercedes CLS and Audi A7 who had no new rivals in this niche for some time.Of course the general shape of the car remains the same its just a bit longer now.
The space is the back now is more than decent and the trunk is also larger. The Gran Coupe will be available in three versions.BMW 640i Gran Coupe brought to life by a 3.0 Liter inline six cylinder engine that makes 320 HP and 450 NM of torque. The 0 to 60 time for this version is 5.2 seconds that the top speed is as usual limited electronically to 155 Mph.
There is also a convertible version named Gran Cabrio equipped with a twin turbo 4.4 Liter V8 that delivers 450 HP and 650 NM.The 0 to 60 time for this car is 4.3 seconds and the top speed is probably limited just like on the previous version.
There are also people that prefer diesel engines, especially in Europe and for them BMW offers the 640d Gran Cabrio version. The engine is a 3.0 Liter tri-turbo six cylinder diesel that makes 313 HP and 640 NM.
On all versions of the 6 series Gran Coupe and Cabrio there is only one transmission choice, a 8 speed automatic. The 650i can be ordered with 4WD.This exciting new coupe offers both practicality and looks but will also have a greater price. The interior of course looks just as good in the two door 6 series or maybe even better. Well this is certainly an interesting alternative to the Mercedes and Audi and I can’t wait to drive it.
