2012 Citroën DS5 Review

The Citroën DS5 was revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 18, 2011. It will be the third model in the new premium segment to run alongside its mainstream cars.

Citroën DS5 is based on the C-SportLounge concept car.The objective was to translate the characteristics of the concept on a superior level but this time under the form of a production car.The special body makes you think to a Grand Turismo model.This is one unique and bold creations, Citroën DS5 is an aerodynamic sculpture with fluid lines.The front is well defined and easily identifiable as a DS5 part of the DS family.

The attractive extremities play with lights and shadows making it look cooler.The light is reflected by the conic sword finished in chrome which then extends from the headlight to the windshield while the shadows are housed in the arches of the back wing- a distinct characteristic of the DS range.From the back the DS5 brings more mass strength to the design and ensures its effect on the observer.

Citroen DS5 is fitted with two new functions.A miniature camera incorporated in the inside mirror which is used to automatically turn on and off the headlights and alternate the beam of light depending on the situation and traffic.To this system is added a new generation of the changing lane video warning system.

DS5 is the first Citroen to use the HYbrid4 technology which uses a full-hybrid drivetrain that combines the performance of a diesel HDi engine with the efficiency of an electric motor.The result is 200 HP, all wheel drive and the possibility of electric drive mode in town.The CO2 emissions are just 99g/km.
